Not too far in the future, according to this film, we may have intelligent operating systems that will be able to converse with and befriend us. Joaquin Phoenix plays a letter writer who installs this new operating system, voiced by Scarlett Johanssen, and develops a weird, codependent friendship with it.

Grade: B+.
